What is Success: it’s in your nature?
Welcome to the Success, it’s in your Nature Canvas space. What do you need to succeed as a student? One may say being bright and creative, thinking quickly or not getting overwhelmed by the goals that we have to accomplish. Nature can give us a hand in being all of those things. It is scientifically proven that contact with nature helps us sustain our attention, restores cognitive capacities when we are tired, supports our creativity, and reduces stress, improving our wellbeing.
Here, at UCC, we are incredibly fortunate with our award-winning green campus and an abundance of nature, right on our doorstep! In this Canvas module, you will be introduced to the many different ways you can access, enjoy and engage with nature at UCC, including; campus walks, tree tours, yoga in the lower grounds, mindfulness walks, art and nature, and more. These natural resources can support you as a student by giving you an antidote to stress, especially at certain times of the year, like around exam time and when essays and coursework are due.
It is also an excellent way to cultivate and nurture your Graduate Attributes (Links to an external site.) Links to an external site.; graduate attributes refer to the skills, knowledge and abilities you will develop during your time here as a UCC student. Such initiatives will help you to successfully navigate your transition in to, through and out of UCC, enabling you to begin, belong and become the person you want to be.
Within the Success, it's in your nature module, in particular, your independent and creative thinking and social responsibility and your core values of ambition, respect, compassion, integrity, and resilience will be explored.
